Hello, world!

Welcome to trial and error!

I'm Dan. This is coming to you straight from my Hashnode blog site!

Who is Dan?

A little bit about me: I'm a back-end developer based in either Windhoek (Namibia) or Kigali (Rwanda). I'm a Big Data, Distributed Systems and Cloud Computing enthusiast. The main tools in my arsenal are Ruby and Rust.

This is scary: authoring articles, putting my name on them, and then publicly posting them to be viewed, criticised, and scrutinised. It's going to be uncomfortable, but that's a great way for me to grow. Grow not just as a developer, but in every aspect in general.

What will you find here?

I wish to use this platform to share and engage with fellow developers alike. To be held accountable when I'm wrong (and hopefully receive constructive and helpful criticisms), to be fairly recognised and acknowledged (when I produce something novel that has an impact), and to learn from others (life is a journey of lifelong learning).

I wish to learn and document my journey with Ruby, Ruby on Rails, and Rust; amongst other topics. I want to understand how data, interconnected systems, and the cloud impact our lives. I wish to connect these concepts and domains with the technologies that will enable me to implement and build within those domains.

Bear with me as I try to experiment and share with you my work and results; hence the name of my blog trial and error. I might flip-flop between ideas, topics, and technologies here and there; but that's ok as long as I learn.

Welcome, and I hope you find something useful and interesting here in my corner. Thanks!
